Lenin’s Dream ( Propaganda I )is a surreal video collage about Lenin’s nightmares and the subsequent torments of his socialist paradise. The moving collages show a world of downed statues and crumbling Soviet architecture, a world that burns down gloriously. The juxtaposition of contrasting worlds, such as striding flamingos and military parades, creates an atmosphere that is both ominous and lyrical.
The soundtrack, composed by the filmmaker himself, consists of sinister sounds and dark music, that contribute to the apocalyptic atmosphere of this cinematic fever dream. (GoShort, VideoForms, Eye Museum, 2021)
The short experimental film Tatort (Crime Scene) combines live-action and AI-generated images into a surprising whole. It is an imaginative and both dark video collage. Tatort depicts a world where evil and fear dominate. It has an idiosyncratic style that evokes reminiscences of film noir and dystopian movies. The film also utilizes the associative processes that form the basis of surrealist art.
Mining Hybris -25 ( Propaganda II ) will be a short experimental video collage. The fictional space organisation GO, driven by greed, will bring the asteroid HYBRIS-25, rich in rare expensive metals, to Earth to exploit it. Hybris means, among other things, hauteur and impudence in ancient Greek. This expedition is told through moving propaganda posters to convince the people of the importance of this glorious undertaking.
